Garry Humphreys writes concert programme and CD liner notes. He is the regular programme note writer for bodies such as Midsummer Opera and the Uxbridge Choral Society and for 25 years provided the bulk of the programme notes for the Broadheath Singers' pioneering annual concerts of British music. He also wrote the essay and notes for the original Collins Classics issue of the CD of songs by Sir Arthur Somervell (15222: English Song Series, volume 6), now issued (but with notes by a different author) by Naxos; click here for the original notes.

His programme notes aim to provide the reader with a context in which to listen to a performance unencumbered by irrelevant or, to the lay listener, incomprehensible technical material; his notes on unjustifiably neglected British music in particular have been commended as thorough and readable sources of information not easily available elsewhere.

Although he specializes in British music Garry Humphreys is by no means limited to this, as the accompanying list of available notes demonstrates. Please click on the letters of the alphabet to see if a particular note is already available; if not, it can be written to order (this is how the list has been built up) and made available at the standard rate.
